• The departemnt has pioneered, in India, several frontier areas like physiologic conservative technique of mitral valve replacement, valve reconstruction programme, new technique of tricuspid annuloplasty, warm heart surgery, etc.
• Neonatal and paediatric cardiac surgery.

    Teaching
    The department runs a 3-year MCh (Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery) program.
